Pill was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and grew up there. Her father, who works in finance, is of Estonian descent. Pill enrolled in Vaughan Road Academy, where she participated in the “Interact” programme, which was created for pupils who were interested in dance, music, sports, and the performing arts in general.

Pill was engaged to actor Jay Baruchel from 2011 until 2013, however the relationship ended in 2013. The Genie Awards in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, where Baruchel was accepting an award, was the occasion when he publicly announced his engagement to Pill by thanking her during his acceptance speech.

On February 16, 2013, Baruchel sent a message on Twitter in which he referred to the couple’s separation. In January 2015, Pill announced her engagement to actor Joshua Leonard. They tied the knot on May 24, 2015, after a four-month courtship and engagement. Wilder Grace Leonard, their daughter, was born on November 19, 2016, and she is their only child.

When she was ten years old, she made the decision to pursue a professional acting career. She was selected to narrate one of the concerts of the Toronto Children’s Chorus since she is a member of the group. Alison’s mother attempted to dissuade her by securing her a position as a background actor on the television series Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.

By the age of eleven, she’d appeared as a guest star in an episode of the children’s television series The New Ghostwriter Mysteries. At the age of twelve, she got parts in two television movies and a miniseries, as well as a guest appearance on the television series PSI Factor and the voice of a character in an animated series, among other things.
