Cerina Vincent Bio

Actress Cerina Vincent was born in the United States on February 7, 1979. She received critical acclaim for her performance as Maya in the Power Rangers Lost Galaxy television series. She then appeared in the comedy movie Not Another Teen Movie before starring in the horror movie Cabin Fever, which cemented her reputation as a “scream queen” and led to additional roles in the genre. In the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle more recently, she played Suzy Diaz. Together with Jodi Lipper, she co-wrote three books, often contributed to The Huffington Post, and co-hosted the podcast Raising Amazing with Dr. Joel Gator. Vincent was born to Italian-American parents on February 7, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Vincent’s mother, a dancing teacher, pushed her to perform from a young age.  She took part in a Christmas play at Diskin Elementary School, memorizing every character’s lines.  She also participated in performances at the Rainbow Company Youth Theater, which was supported by the city of Las Vegas’ Cultural Affairs section. Vincent participated in Miss Teen USA in 1996 was sixteen years old and won the Miss Nevada Teen USA crown. She placed in the top 15, but she didn’t win the pageant in Las Cruces, New Mexico, which was live-televised. In the 1999 direct-to-video movie Fear Runs Silent, which also starred Billy Dee Williams, Vincent made her acting debut.

However, her first notable performance as an actor was as Maya, the Yellow Galaxy Ranger, in the seventh season of the Power Rangers franchise, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, which aired from February 6, 1999, to December 18, 1999. Later, Vincent remarked, “A tiny concert like that, but for kids, was a terrific opportunity to learn a lot and develop a flavour for this industry. Being a good example for children was fun.” In a section analysing the part, Vincent had an appearance in the 2020 documentary Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies. In 2012, Vincent made a comeback to the big screen, portraying the title character in MoniKa, for which she also served as executive producer, and making appearances in Complacent and Chasing Happiness as Andrea and Myah Sanderson.

In 2013, Vincent played Ashleigh in the Hallmark Channel original film The Thanksgiving House, produced and starred in the critically acclaimed horror short Skypemare, which also starred Annika Marks, Ryan Dillon, and Adam J. Yeend, and screened at the 2013 Telluride Horror Show and ScreamFest in Los Angeles.  Vincent had a supporting part in the independent film Broken Memories in 2017.Vincent portrayed Suzy Diaz, a mother of seven kids, in the Disney Channel sitcom Stuck in the Middle from 2016 to 2018.Three seasons of the show were produced.

The main role of Jen in the 2018 thriller feature film The Work Wife, a guest spot in 2019 on NCIS: Los Angeles, and a role in the 2020 Lifetime TV film My Daughter’s Psycho Friend are among Vincent’s most recent appearances. Some of Vincent’s most enduring movie scenes may be found in the 2003 R-rated horror movie Cabin Fever, which also included her “leg-shaving” sequence and the “plane-crash” seduction and sex scene. Two sex scenes with two distinct characters and topless sequences were included in the movie. Vincent was wary about over-exposing herself in the movie out of concern that she would get typecast into nude parts, which turned into a bone of disagreement between her and director Eli Roth.

Beginning in 2004, Vincent had many appearances in theatrical and television productions, such as the roles of Gen in Intermedio  and Sarah the Dancer in Conversations with Other Women. She also played the L.A. Girl in Murder-Set-Pieces. She made her acting debut in the 2005 movie It Waits as forest ranger Danielle “Danny” St. Claire. Beginning in 2005, Vincent had a number of cameos on television, including ones on Sex, Love & Secrets, Palmetto Pointe, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Since then, she has also contributed to the television shows The Walking Dead, Mike & Molly, Zombie Family, Gary Unmarried, Bones, and Two and a Half Men. She costarred with Lance Henriksen in the Sci-Fi Channel original film Sasquatch Mountain as Erin Price and played Tiffany in The Surfer King, Lacy in Seven Mummies, and Erin Price in Sasquatch Mountain. She played Michelle in Return to House on Haunted Hill, Marisa Costa in Everybody Wants to Be Italian, and Manchild in the television movies Manchild and Wifey. She acted as Malvi in Toxic, The Mrs. in Just Add Water, an indie film, and Fashion Victim in 2008.

Vincent had appearances on MTV’s Undressed, Son of the Beach, Malcolm in the Middle, Felicity, and Ally McBeal after the popularity of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. In the two-part Trakeena’s Revenge Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue episode, in which the two teams of Rangers teamed up, she made a second appearance as Maya. In the satirical film Not Another Teen Movie from 2001, Vincent played Areola, a foreign exchange student, in her first leading role.

As a satirical take on the gratuitous nudity that was common in teen films at the time, and specifically as a parody of Shannon Elizabeth’s character Nadia in American Pie, the character never wears clothes, even in public, so the part obviously required her to be nude whenever she appeared throughout the film. The subtitles for Vincent’s constantly changing accent are placed so as not to cover her breasts while she interacts with characters who are wearing clothing, and none of them seem to be bothered by her inappropriate nudity. Vincent is naked throughout all of her scenes, using her body as a sort of sight gag. Given that she had never performed any nude sequences before, Vincent called accepting the role a “big choice” for her.

She first declined the part multiple times before choosing to take it on because she found it amusing. Despite this, she still had concerns about acting in the nude for the first time and for such a long period of time. In an interview from 2011, Vincent said:At that time, I was more worried about whether I would be able to accomplish it on my own. Oh my God. I wanted to avoid having my family reject me by not going naked and having it publicly viewable for all time.  Your body is unique and personal, therefore it’s bizarre and difficult. Because everyone was a professional and my role was ridiculous—I tried many different accents throughout the movie and it was entertaining… it was a comedy—it was simpler to film that sequence.

Therefore, filming the sequences was simple; the difficult part was dealing with the fact that it would last forever. It made you second-guess your choices, but I don’t regret anything. After graduating from Durango High School in 1997, Vincent relocated to Los Angeles and received a scholarship to attend Marymount College. She attended auditions in between semesters and finally won roles in multiple commercials and USA High for the USA Network.
