Angelina Jolie Bio

Angelina Jolie, better known by her stage name DCMG, is an American actress, philanthropist, and filmmaker. She has received various honours, such as an Academy Award and three Golden Globe Awards, and has often been referred to be Hollywood’s highest-paid actress. She and her brother moved home with their mother when her parents divorced in 1976; the mother had given up acting in order to concentrate on raising her children.  Jolie was not forced to attend church by her mother, who reared her as a Catholic.

She often watched movies as a youngster with her mother, and this, more than her father’s successful career, sparked her interest in acting. However, she had a small role in Voight’s Lookin’ to Get Out  when she was only seven years old. When Jolie was six years old, Bertrand and her live-in boyfriend, director Bill Day, relocated the family to Palisades, New York. Five years later, they moved back to Los Angeles.

Jolie later made the decision that she wanted to be an actor and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, where she received two years of training and participated in a number of theatre performances. Since Voight left the family when his daughter was less than a year old, Jolie and her father have had a strained, dysfunctional relationship that has lasted her whole life. She has said that after then, their time together was infrequent and often performed in front of the media.  When they co-starred in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider , they made up, but things soon fell apart once again.  Jolie requested that her middle name, which she had long used as a stage name, replace her surname, Voight, and the court approved her request on September 12, 2002.

When he appeared on Access Hollywood, Voight announced their breakup and said Jolie had “severe mental difficulties.”  Her mother and brother also stopped speaking with him at that moment.  After six and a half years of silence, they started talking again after Bertrand’s ovarian cancer death on January 27, 2007. before making their reunion public three years later. Jolie decided to pursue a career in acting when she was 16 years old, but she first struggled to get roles because of her “too gloomy” personality.

Jolie started her professional acting career in 1993 when she portrayed a nearly human robot created for corporate espionage and murder in the science-fiction sequel Cyborg 2. She didn’t try out again for a role for a year since she was so upset with the movie. She first appeared in Hollywood in the 1995 indie film Hackers, where she had a supporting part. Angelina Jolie’s character Kate was described by New York Times critic Janet Maslin as “stand outs. She is the uncommon female hacker who sits hard at her keyboard in a see-through top and scowls even more bitterly than, Hackers didn’t make a profit at the box office, but once it was released on video, it gained a cult following.

Following her role in the 1996 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, Love Is All There Is, Jolie starred in the road movie Mojave Moon, which The Hollywood Reporter praised for her “comic flair” and “blatant sexuality,” which “makes it entirely credible that Danny Aiello’s character would drop everything just for the chance to be with her.”

She portrayed Legs in Foxfire, a wanderer who rallies four adolescent girls against a teacher who had assaulted them sexually. Regarding her portrayal, Jack Mathews of the Los Angeles Times commented, “Jolie, Jon Voight’s gorgeous daughter, has the presence to shatter the stereotype despite the amount of nonsense it required to create this character. Legs is the topic and the driving force even if Maddy is the one telling the narrative.”

Jolie and David Duchovny featured in the Los Angeles underworld-themed thriller Playing God in 1997. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times stated that Jolie “finds a certain softness in a type of part that is normally rough and violent; she appears too sweet to be  girlfriend, and maybe she is.” The reviewers did not like the movie.

Even less well received was her subsequent act as a frontierswoman in the 1997 CBS miniseries True Women. Robert Strauss, writing for The Philadelphia Inquirer, called her “horrid, a fourth-rate Scarlett O’Hara,” who depends on “gnashed teeth and excessively pouted lips,” dismissing her. Jolie also played a stripper who quits her show mid-performance to roam about New York City in the Rolling Stones’ music video for “Anybody Seen My Baby.

Because her mother made less money than some of the wealthy families in the neighbourhood, Jolie felt outcast among the other students at Beverly Hills High School. Other pupils made fun of her because she was so skinny and because she had glasses and braces.  Her early modelling endeavours, which her mother insisted she pursue, were unsuccessful.  She then changed schools to Moreno High School, an alternative school, where she established herself as a “punk outsider,” dressing in all-black, attending moshing events, and having knife play with her live-in partner.

She left her acting studies  and pursued a career as a funeral director, taking online courses to learn embalming. After the relationship ended, Jolie finished high school at the age of 16, leased her own apartment, and then resumed her theatrical studies.  Despite the fact that, in 2004, she said of this time, “I am still at heart—and always will be—just a punk kid with tattoos,” Jolie self-harmed when she was a teenager because she had trouble empathising with others. She later said, “For some way, the ritual of having cut myself and experiencing the anguish, maybe feeling alive, feeling some sort of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me.

She also battled sleeplessness, an eating problem, and started taking drugs at the age of 18. By the time she was 20, she had tried “just about every substance there was,” mainly heroin. Jolie had depressive episodes and made suicide plans twice, first when she was 19 and again when she was 22, when she tried to hire a hitman to murder her.  She had a mental breakdown when she was 24 and was subsequently committed for 72 hours to the psychiatric ward at UCLA Medical Center.  Jolie found stability in her life two years after adopting her first child, saying subsequently, “I knew once I committed to Maddox, I would never be self-destructive again.”

In recognition of her humanitarian work, Jolie has won several awards, including the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the designation of honorary Dame Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. She advocates for a number of issues, including as women’s rights, education, and conservation, but she is most known for her work as a Special Envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Jolie has been to several countries, including Cambodia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, Sudan, Yemen, and Ukraine, on more than a dozen field trips to refugee camps and conflict zones.

In the American entertainment industry, Jolie has been referred to be one of the most powerful and influential public figures. Several media sites have referred to her as the most beautiful lady in the world. Her private life, including her love affairs, marriages, and health, have received a lot of media attention. Actors Jonny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thornton, and Brad Pitt are all ex-spouses of hers. Three of the six children she shares with Pitt were adopted abroad.
